Colin Drury

Mr Colin Drury FRCSEd (Tr+Orth) is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in knee surgery, with a particular expertise in:

  • Knee replacement (partial and total surgery)
  • Sports knee injuries (ligament repair/reconstruction and meniscus/cartilage repair)
  • Keyhole surgery of the knee (arthroscopy)
  • Knee re-alignment surgery (osteotomy).  
  • Non-surgical management of knee conditions (physiotherapy/ injection therapy/ steroid/hyaluronic acid/PRP)

His NHS consultant practice has also been dedicated to managing complex trauma injuries, infection and collaborative multi-disciplinary working alongside plastic surgeons at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Mr Drury delivers an individualised approach to patient care, integrating shared decision making alongside evidence-based techniques.  He works in collaboration with his patients to achieve the best possible outcome.

Mr Drury has been part of the steering group tasked with the delivery of the NHS Arthroplasty Rehabilitation In Scotland Endeavour (A.R.I.S.E.) throughout hospitals in Scotland.  The primary focus being safe and timely recovery from joint replacement surgery.

Research and Training

Originally from Paisley, Mr Drury graduated from the University of Edinburgh and completed his orthopaedic specialist training in the West of Scotland.  He undertook the prestigious OrthoSports Victoria Limb Reconstruction Fellowship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Australia prior to commencing his Consultant practice in Glasgow in 2016.

He was awarded a West of Scotland travelling fellowship which enabled him to spend time at the Rubin Institute, Sinai Hospital Baltimore, USA and has taken training opportunities at the Tygerberg Hospital Cape Town, South Africa.

Mr Drury has experience of managing injuries of professional athletes and working alongside rehabilitation specialists, having held positions with St Mirren FC and Kilmarnock FC in the Scottish Premiership as team and club doctor respectively.
